Planet Propaganda: Legendary Madison exec named to Advertising Hall of Fame

Madison, Feb. 18, 2025—The Wisconsin Advertising Hall of Fame will induct Madison’s trailblazing advertising executive and creative director Dana Lytle of Planet Propaganda on Feb. 27.

Known locally for innovative and laugh-out-loud creative with Belleville-based Duluth Trading Company,  Lytle and his teams helped their client solve “plumber’s butt” and offer free Buck Naked Underwear. Along the way, Duluth Trading Company transformed from a regional workwear catalog to a $600 million national retailer.

Top clients like Jersey Mike’s and Jimmy John’s drew on Planet’s evocative campaigns to grow from small shops into national powerhouses. Forward Madison FC, the area’s growing men’s soccer team, began with Lytle’s agency’s help.

Over 35 years, Lytle led his team to become a 30-employee agency with a national reputation as a driving force behind brands on the precipice, helping them cross critical chasms during pivotal moments in their journeys.

”This recognition is not just about my work but about the amazing team I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with over the years,” he said. ”I am truly humbled and honored to be inducted into the Wisconsin Advertising Hall of Fame.”

Frequently sought as a speaker in national design forums, Lytle made Madison a destination for talented writers, designers, planners, digital developers, and content creators, whom he once said boosted sound client strategy with “some creative hoobajoob”.

In addition to Lytle, the state Advertising Hall of Fame will honor Jay Filter, a writer, art director, and photographer in Milwaukee’s ad agency community.
