June 6, 2024 – WEST ALLIS, WIS – For the third consecutive year, the City of West Allis is excited to welcome the Tour of America’s Dairyland (ToAD) “Cheese Wheel Classic” bike race to the Becher Street neighborhood on Friday, June 14. This annual bike race brings tours and cyclists from all over the world to 11 different communities over 11 days. The day will feature nine different races starting at 11 a.m. and will feature cyclists of all types from junior riders to seasoned masters, novices to pros and even hand cyclists. All races throughout the day will start and finish near the intersection of W. Becher Street and S. 71st Street.
At 6 p.m. the 0.82-mile racetrack will be open to the community for the “Anything That Rolls” Community Hour. During this time, community members can bring their wheeled items like skateboards, roller skates, roller blades, and, of course, bikes onto the racecourse to get a feel for what it’s like to ride the route.
Unique to West Allis, the final race of the evening will kick off at 7 p.m. with the women’s professional
race. This race will feature West Allis natives and professional cyclists Skylar and Samantha
Schneider, who also co-own the popular West Allis bakery, The Bread Pedalers. In the thrilling 2023
ToAD race in West Allis, Skylar Schneider pulled away from the pack of racers and nearly lapped the
group to take first place, while Sam Schneider secured second place in an incredible day of racing.
The Cheese Wheel Classic is brought to the community by West Allis Cheese and Sausage Shoppe,
in partnership with the City of West Allis and presented by New Glarus Brewing Company. Additional
partnership is provided by El Jimador Tequila and Allis Bike.
