Midwest Renewable Energy Association: Grow Solar Jefferson + Waukesha program returns with enhanced benefits

Waukesha, WI – The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) is excited to announce the return of the Grow Solar Jefferson + Waukesha program. This initiative assists homeowners and businesses in Jefferson and Waukesha Counties in purchasing solar panels, which can reduce energy costs while also lowering environmental impacts.

The Grow Solar program brings community members together to learn about residential solar options and purchase solar panels in bulk, offering substantial cost savings and incentives not available to individual buyers. Since its inception in 2013, Grow Solar’s offerings have expanded significantly, educating hundreds of residents and resulting in over 2 megawatts of solar energy generation across the Midwest, including over 700 kilowatts of solar in Jefferson and Waukesha counties..

Joanna Salinas, of the Waukesha County Green Team, emphasizes the program’s advantages: “Solar technology is leading to a cleaner, cheaper and more efficient energy future, but it can be difficult and time-consuming to determine if solar is right for your home or business. We’re a proud supporter of this program because it brings the community together with the professional and educational materials they need. Plus, we fully vet the Grow Solar solar installer so you know you can trust the information you are receiving.”

In a time of rising prices, investing in solar energy offers immediate relief from high energy costs and shields against future uncertainties. Taylor Ball, Grow Solar’s solar program manager, highlights the benefits: “Through our group buy model, participants will have upfront savings on their solar installations and will enjoy ongoing cost savings as they harness clean, renewable electricity for years to come.”

Open to residents and small businesses in Jefferson and Waukesha Counties, the program collaborates with a vetted local solar installer, ensuring that solar investments benefit the regional economy. This trusted installer provides comprehensive support for customers during their solar journey, including free site assessments, customized system design, installation, and ongoing maintenance.

Frankie Fuller, from Heart of the City in Fort Atkinson, remembers thinking about where to begin when she and her husband had solar installed on their roof in 2018. “I worried about how I would know that the installer I would choose was honest and reliable and not a flash-in-the-pan scam group more interested in making a fast buck rather than building a reputation of being knowledgeable, reliable and honest.

And that’s the beauty of the Group Buy Program. Our review team includes certified electricians and engineers from the area as well as advocates for clean energy that participants can feel good about and comfortable with.”

Grow Solar’s “Solar Power Hours” offer educational sessions for individuals interested in solar technology and incentives. Attendees can request a complimentary site assessment to evaluate solar feasibility for their properties.

Solar Power Hours are scheduled throughout the summer in Jefferson and Waukesha Counties. For more information and a full schedule, visit jeffersonwaukesha.growsolar.org/
