The Madison Area Builders Association is pleased to announce it will be hosting the 10th Annual Career Day at the Madison Area Parade of Homes on May 14, 2024. Building industry volunteers will showcase their trades through presentations and hands-on demonstrations at the Golden Ponds Parade of Homes site
in Waunakee, a Livable Community by Don Tierney. The 10th Annual Career Day is set to host numerous area high school and middle school students with approximately 300 attendees and volunteers expected.
Demonstrations will focus on several trades including plumbing, electrical, masonry, project management, tiling, concrete, and electrical line work. According to Madison Area Builders Association Executive Director, Chad Lawler, “With an expected 2.2 million open jobs needing to be filled nationally over the by 2025 to meet current demand, a career in the Skilled Trades and the construction industry could not be in greater demand. We want every young person in the area to understand all of the amazing opportunities that exist within the construction industry. From field roles in plumbing and carpentry to office positions in sales and construction management, there is a high paying role with high job satisfaction available to meet the interests of any young person.”
The Madison Area Builders Association is dedicated to educating younger generations on the benefits of a career in the skilled trades and allowing students to familiarize themselves with local trade companies. In addition to Career Day at the Parade of Homes, the Madison Area Builders Association has also partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County to create the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center in
Fitchburg which introduces and trains Club members and students from area schools about the opportunities available in the Construction industry via hands-on programming. In addition, the Center will prepare students for transition into the workforce with soft-skills training and offer youth entrepreneurial classes.
