[Door County, April 30, 2024] – The Door County Workforce Housing Lending Corporation, a partnership between the Door County Community Foundation and NeighborWorks Green Bay is pleased to announce the hire of Kay Smith as the Commercial Lender for the non-profit organization.
Smith brings years of experience in the financial services industry, as well as non-profit management here in the Door County area. She is a current board member for the Door County Housing Partnership, and previously served as a Board Member of the Door County Habitat for Humanity. Kay and her husband reside in Sturgeon Bay.
The Workforce Housing Lending Corporation (WHLC) brings a new approach to address the challenge Door County faces with the lack of affordable workforce housing. WHLC provides key financial incentives for developers to build affordable rental units that are within the price range of Door County’s working families. This adds a new layer of financing that is only available if a developer builds their project in Door County. The loans that will be offered by WHLC were designed collaboratively by private housing developers, non-profit affordable housing experts, and government officials.
Housing developers, non-profit organizations, or local business owners interested in building multi-family units in Door County and/or learning more, may contact Kay by emailing kay@builddoorcounty.org or calling (920)770-0830.
WHLC is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation that is philanthropically funded. Individuals and corporations that are interested in supporting WHLC may donate through the Door County Community Foundation, www.givedoorcounty.org.
