The new Brewers’ Reserve Tropical Ale aged in rum barrels releases today as a Beer Hall exclusive.
MILWAUKEE (April 12th, 2024) – Next up in Lakefront’s Brewers’ Reserve series is their Tropical Ale aged in rum barrels. The eighth in the series, these Brewers’ Reserve varieties allow their brewhouse wizards to experiment with niche-barrel-aged beer styles and package limited runs for the public.
Last spring, they brewed a strong oatwine ale base and loaded it with tropical ingredients: pineapple juice, banana juice, and cocoa powder. Their Special Projects Manager, Tyler, then carefully racked it into rum barrels and let it chill in rum barrels for ten months where it caught waves of punchy rum oak tannins, and amped the abv up to a righteous 13%! Lakefront says to expect leveled notes of dried tropical fruits, chocolate toffee, and coconut, with a pleasantly dry finish.
Their Brewers’ Reserve Series is packaged in 12 oz. cans which will be available exclusively at the brewery in limited supply. Brewers’ Reserve Tropical Ale releases today at Lakefront Brewery Beer Hall and cans may be ordered online for scheduled pickup or purchased in person at their main bar, until supplies last. Single cans to go will run you $4 + tax, and a 6-pack will cost $20 + tax. Lakefront notes that all 7 of the previous Brewers’ Reserve have sold out so stop by before they sell out again!
