WAUSAU, WI (March 5, 2024)—GI Associates, an independent gastroenterology practice serving Northern and Central Wisconsin, is pleased to introduce Steve Brewer as its incoming chief operating officer (COO). Brewer succeeds the current COO, Cathleen Rohling, upon her retirement in mid-2024. In the interim, Brewer and Rohling will collaborate closely to ensure a seamless transition, preserving the continuity of effective leadership within the organization.

Having previously worked in Wausau for six years, Brewer is familiar with the area and understands the needs of the region. With a diverse background in hospital systems, private practices and academic settings, he brings experience with hospital and physician-based operations, making him an exceptional fit for this position.
Brewer comes to GI Associates after working as vice president of operations for the SSM Monroe Clinic Medical Group and Hospital. In his previous role, Brewer oversaw more than 120 physicians and advanced practice providers as well as SSM Monroe Clinic Medical Group operations.

Brewer has a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from Northern Illinois University, an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University, and a recent doctorate in health sciences from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, specializing in leadership and organizational behavior. He is a fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the American College of Health Care Executives. Additionally, Brewer is a contributing author and speaker with the Medical Group Management Association.
