As displayed on their official website, the mission of Take Back the Night is “to end sexual violence in all forms, including sexual assault, sexual abuse, trafficking, stalking, gender harassment, relationship violence, and to support survivors in their healing journeys. We foster safe communities through international events and initiatives. Take Back The Night Events unite people from every background, belief, and culture around the world to take a visible and vocal stand.”
This year’s event programming will highlight the LGBTQIA+ community. Reach Counseling’s Advocacy Director, Ciara Hill states “Nothing is more important than actively working to end all forms of violence. Bringing awareness and fostering understanding is how we are going to do that. It is important that we center on the LGBTQIA+ community as many people do not realize they are disproportionately impacted by violence. We hope this event helps to better equip our community to take action so we can make long lasting, positive changes.”
