Bayfield, Wis. (Sept.22, 2023) – The 61st Annual Bayfield Apple Festival will kick off October 6-8, 2023, with added apple-related fun for the whole family.
There’s still time to book your stay in Bayfield for the three-day weekend. Visitors can search using our lodging availability tool on bayfield.org or call the Chamber for referrals. Stay right where all the action is, or find cozy accommodations away from the crowds.
“For the 61st year, we added a new vendor location featuring handmade goods, retail items, and delicious food offerings off of South Second Street. We are excited to have new and diverse food options this year,” said Carol Fahrenkrog, executive director of the Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau.
The farmer’s market has always been a staple on Friday, and this year, festival attendees can enjoy the market on Saturday. Apple Festival will continue to feature two live music venues throughout the three days. See Big Top Chautauqua’s Blue Canvas Orchestra at the Grandstand Stage, sponsored by Essentia Health, Windseeker Realty, and Windseeker Rentals. Also, enjoy Concerts by the Lake in Memorial Park all weekend long, sponsored by Memorial Medical Center, Pier Plaza and the Wisconsin Lottery. The festival begins with the community Apple Pie and Dessert Contest on Wednesday, September 27 at the Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion. Broad Street Brokers sponsors the contest. Test your peeling skills during the Apple Peeling Contest sponsored by Queen’s View Bed & Breakfast on Saturday, October 7 and help us honor the Apple Festival Queen with a coronation Saturday night at 6:45 p.m. Apple Festival wraps up Sunday with the Grand Parade down historic Rittenhouse Avenue at 2 p.m.
Established in 1961 by orchard owner Jim Erickson, Apple Festival is a celebration of the autumn harvest and Bayfield’s agricultural heritage. More than 60,000 visitors come to the area during the festival to tour the orchards, wineries, and cideries and peruse fine arts and crafts from over 100 vendors while sampling local foods at more than 60 food booths.
