MADISON – Yesterday, Assembly Representative Jacobson (D-Oregon) voted on Assembly Bill 245, the “Shared Revenue Bill.”

“The shared revenue bill is going to be transformative for our state. Communities across the 43rd will benefit from the increase in shared revenue that they will receive. I appreciate that we are finally addressing the chronic underfunding of our communities at the state level, and I am thankful that those talks have carried with them bipartisan elements.

“This bill is also transformative in how it usurps local control and uses divide and conquer tactics to exacerbate inequitable systems. It contains unnecessary and punitive provisions for communities around the state and singles out Milwaukee to test out partisan antics that we are now seeing attempted statewide. I voted against this bill because I feel that local control is too important to the communities of the 43rd. Asking us to trade away this core principle of Wisconsin government goes against the Wisconsin values I was elected to uphold.”
