Waukesha County Parks: Citizen Science season 2023

(Waukesha, WI) – Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow is pleased to announce the kick-off the 2023 season of Waukesha County Parks Conservation in the Parks programs beginning in June and continuing throughout the year. Volunteers are invited to become Citizen Scientists in many natural areas all over Waukesha County.

“Volunteering as a Citizen Scientist is yet another great way to enjoy Waukesha County Parks,” states County Executive Paul Farrow. “At the same time, you and your group help natural land management and habitat restoration efforts. Call it a visit to the parks with a purpose.”

Conservation Biologist Julia Robson adds: “Your volunteer time helps gather important information that’s used to improve and protect unique lands. A Citizen Science event is like an open-air game night for you and your loved ones, and all Waukesha County residents and visitors are the winners.”

Volunteers may work independently or with trained Waukesha County Parks staff. New and returning Citizen Scientists choose from the following areas:

• Reptile Conservation

• Bat Monitoring

• Bird Conservation

• Invertebrate Monitoring (including raising beetles)

• Wildlife Nest Box Monitoring
