The federal government announced a notice of funding opportunity for communities to apply for Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants to improve roadway safety. Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has resources to support communities applying for these competitive federal discretionary grants.
Grant awards in this second round of the SS4A Grant Program will support planning, infrastructure, behavioral, and operational initiatives to prevent death and serious injury on roads and streets. Applicants have until July 10, 2023, to submit their SS4A grant request to the U.S. DOT.
Eight Wisconsin communities and municipalities were successful in the first round of the SS4A program and expect to receive nearly $6.7 million in planning and implementation grants.
WisDOT is poised to help communities tap into $1.1 billion in available new federal funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. WisDOT’s grant resources, at wisconsindot.gov/
