THELMA: Arts day camp goes robotic

Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced On Stage @ THELMA will feature the theatrical adventure of robots vying for the top prize in “BOTS”.

The arts day camp, which runs from July 26 through August 6, will be in person.

The camp, for fourth through eighth grade students, is Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2 pm. Students learn the lines, songs, and dances, and build the sets. The camp culminates with two public performances during the evening of August 6.

“We are thrilled to bring this program back live,” said Jacqui Corsi, THELMA’s executive director. “The students come from all over to participate in this camp and in the two weeks make lifelong friendships.”

This year, the camp will be led by Fond du Lac Children’s Chorale Artistic Director, Eva Thelen- Dunphy. Local arts instructor, Anoush Cowles, will return as lead visual artist guiding the students through set building.

The story is about a BOTS Robotics Competition where teams and their (singing and dancing) robots are all vying for the top prize. Amidst the coding, building, and fierce competition, two members from rival teams befriend one another and throw everything off-balance. This musical invites humans and robots alike to discover the power of technology and teamwork.

The camp fee is $185 ($148 for THELMA members). A t-shirt and a daily snack are included.
