— Eighty-three private Wisconsin companies are on Inc. magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest growing companies in the country. That’s up from 80 companies that made the list a year ago.

The top-ranked Wisconsin company is Whitefish Bay’s Service Financial, which ranked number 47 and had nearly $20 million in revenue.

— A bill that would set uniform wind siting standards is heading to the Senate floor today.

The bill would have the Public Service Commission set standards for large and small wind energy systems across the state. The Senate floor session that includes SB 185 on the agenda is slated to begin at noon.

— Early stage companies in Wisconsin and beyond will have three opportunities to present to private equity investors gathering in two Madison venues this fall.

The Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium (Nov. 10-11) and the MidAmerica Healthcare Venture Forum (Nov. 11-12) at Madison’s Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center will offer early stage companies chances to present to angel investors and venture capitalists.

Companies must apply to present by 5 p.m. Friday.

— Gov. Jim Doyle, as part of a trade mission to Japan and China, joined leaders from TomoTherapy to launch the Madison-based medical device company’s Hi-Art system at Edogawa Hospital in Japan. The installation at Edogawa Hospital in the Tokyo metropolitan area is the 16th in that country.
