Larry Clemens Hired As Sun Prairie Ice Arena Manager
Sun Prairie, Wis – After conducting a national search involving numerous highly-qualified applicants from across the country, the Board of Directors of Sun Prairie Ice Inc. voted unanimously to hire Larry Clemens as the new Ice Arena Manager effective December 26th, 2013.
As the Ice Arena Manager at the brand new $7,000,000 two-sheet ice facility in Sun Prairie, Clemens will be responsible for scheduling, organizing, coordinating, and directing the day-to-day operations and activities of the arena, which is scheduled to open on January 17, 2014. Clemens succeeds Chuck Wilson who served as Ice Arena Manager at the previous facility since March of 1997. Chuck has been a tremendous asset and played a vital role in the planning and construction of the new facility. He will certainly be missed and we wish him well in his retirement.
Clemens, a native of the Sun Prairie area, attended Sun Prairie High School and was a goaltender for the Sun Prairie Cardinals Varsity team that captured the state title in 1997. Clemens went on to attend UW-Whitewater where he obtained a degree in Physical Education. Clemens continued his goalie career for several junior teams throughout the United States before finally hanging up the skates in a professional capacity. He currently assists the Chicago Steel and the Janesville Jets as a goalie coach and mentors dozens of area hockey players. In addition to his Ice Arena Manager and coaching duties, he will continue to run various camps and clinics through his business On Ice Promotions.
