Madison, WI. On Saturday August 18th, the 9th annual Safe Harbor motorcycle ride will not only raise money for the child Advocacy Center, Safe Harbor, but it will do it while honoring Chief Deputy Ron Boylan of the Dane County Sheriff’s Office who lost his battle with cancer in 2010.
“Ron truly believed in this event,” says Sheriff Dave Mahoney. “He went out there and really sold it every year to make it a success. Renaming the ride in his honor just made sense.”
If the Ron Boylan Motorcycle Ride to Benefit Safe Harbor lives up to previous years’ turnouts, Boylan would have been extremely proud. In 2011, over 140 motorcycles traveled the 100 mile scenic route. The event raised over $ 17,598 for the essential services Safe Harbor provides. Victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and domestic violence have all made use of the services Safe Harbor provides to children who come seeking help.
Even with hundreds of bikers on the road, the Safe Harbor ride is consistently viewed as the safest motorcycle gathering in all of Dane County.
At the end of the ride, motorcyclists will gather at Quaker Steak & Lube, 2259 Deming Way. Refreshments, food and live music will entertain the riders who will raise so much for a worthy cause.“Just like Ron, we know the value of Safe Harbor. We’re doing everything we can to make this event a success,” says Chelsey Gardner, assistant general manager of Quaker Steak & Lube.”

Where: Starts at Capital City Harley-Davidson, 6200 Millpond Road (at the intersection of Hwy 12/18 and I 90)
When: Saturday, August 18th. Registration begins at 9:00 am and the ride departs at 11:00 am
The ride ends at Quaker Steak & Lube 2259 Deming Way in Middleton.
Cost: $20 in advance. Participants are strongly encouraged to register at http://www.active.com , or the cost is $25 to register the day of the ride.
