Madison, WI… The Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC) named the WEA Trust (a not-for-profit group health insurer that insures many Wisconsin public school employees) this year’s WASC “Friend of the Year” at the WASC Awards Banquet Sunday night. Each year the WASC honors either a person or an organization for their generous contributions to student leadership in Wisconsin.
Numerous organizations are considered for the award and winners are selected by a panel of students and advisors representing all areas of the state.
“I would like to commend the WEA Trust for their creative vision and their passion for serving Wisconsin schools. Our Board of Trustees and our students are humbled by their actions,” said Michelle TerMaat-McGrath, Executive Director of WASC. “The WEA Trust’s partnership with WASC and their long tradition of involvement in Wisconsin schools is admirable.”
In recent years, the urgency of providing financial support to schools and students has grown, increasing the urgency of establishing partnerships and sponsorships between Wisconsin organizations.
“WASC is instrumental in developing today’s student leadership. We are honored to partner with them and even more so to receive this recognition,” said Kathryne McGowan, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at the WEA Trust. “We look forward to working with WASC in the future as both of our organizations share a strong commitment to the incredible youth we have in Wisconsin.”
The WEA Trust has helped develop youth leadership by providing speakers at WASC events, bringing in key personnel from the Trust to share their leadership journey with students, assisting with marketing tools, and more.
