MADISON – Attorney General J. B. Van Hollen issued the following statement regarding the legislature’s passage of Senate Bill 54:

I applaud the Senate and Assembly on the passage of SB 54. K2, Spice, Ivory Wave, Pure Ivory, and others, are the common names of several products that contain hallucinogenic and stimulant substances, but are currently legal to possess and have rapidly grown in popularity since 2009. Due to their dangerous nature, SB 54 adds these substances to Wisconsin’s Uniform Controlled Substances Act, making them illegal to possess.

I would like to thank Senator Sheila Harsdorf and Representative Garey Bies for authoring this legislation and shepherding it through the legislative process.

I look forward to Governor Walker signing the bill into law.
