Project Will Create 100 Jobs for Florence County

FLORENCE – Governor Jim Doyle today announced that Northern Component Solutions of Florence will receive a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant – Economic Development (CDBG-ED) loan from the Department of Commerce to purchase land, a building, and equipment.

“Northern Component Solutions is a great example of the kind company we want in Wisconsin,” Governor Doyle said. “It’s a company that’s committed to producing a high quality product and willing to invest in its workers and community. This project will stimulate the local economy and I applaud Northern Component Solutions for making this investment and bringing new jobs to Florence County.”

Northern Component Solutions is a start-up company that manufactures lumber and cabinet components. The company will be purchasing the building, land, and equipment from the Pride Golf Tee company, which recently closed. The total project cost is $4.4 million and will create 100 jobs for the Florence area.

“I am very happy for this opportunity to produce high-end kitchen cabinet parts and flooring banks,” said Gary Ort, Northern Component Solutions founder. “This is a unique opportunity because of the close proximity of high quality Hard Maple, Cherry, and Red Oak and a highly skilled workforce.”

The CDBG-ED program awards grants to businesses that seek to expand or relocate to Wisconsin. Businesses interested in the CDBG-ED program should contact their Commerce Area Development Manager. Contact information can be found at www.commerce.wi.gov/MT/MT-FAX-0901.html.
