Dept. of Commerce: Gov. Doyle Announces Funding For Marten Transport, LTD.

MADISON – Gov. Jim Doyle today announced that Marten Transport, Ltd.,
Mondovi, Buffalo County, will receive $250,000 in Agricultural Development
Zone tax credits from the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to help the
company make an expansion to its corporate headquarters.

“My Grow Wisconsin initiative calls for helping businesses make a lasting
investment in Wisconsin’s economy,” said Gov. Doyle. “Marten Transport,
Ltd. is a great example of the kind of company that we have in Wisconsin.
It’s a company that’s committed to transporting Wisconsin products all over
the state and the entire country.”

“This addition provides a foundation for our continued fleet growth, helps
us improve our customer and driver support services, and reinforces our
commitment to
our employees and the communities in which we operate,” said Bob Smith,
Chief Operating
Officer of Marten Transport, Ltd. “As part of this expansion, we included
state-of-the-art technology for our telephone system, capacity/demand
balancing, and more effective internal
communication.”

Marten Transport, Ltd. is a long-haul truckload carrier. The company is
investing $1 million to expand its corporate headquarters. The project will
create 162 full-time positions and will retain 337 positions.

The Agriculture Development Zone program helps attract, promote, retain, and
encourage the expansion of agriculture business in Wisconsin. For more
