Pre-NGA entrepreneurs event set for Aug. 1 in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE — WisPolitics.com and WisBusiness.com are getting the economy discussion going in advance of next month’s National Governors Association summer meeting with a pre-NGA entrepreneurs forum in Milwaukee on Aug. 1.

The event will take place at the Mandel Group-managed Boston Lofts, 630 N 4th St Milwaukee, a block away from the NGA headquarters hotel, the Hilton Milwaukee City Center on Wisconsin Avenue. UW-Milwaukee, Ramirez Co. and The Firm Consulting are the three co-sponsors of the event.

Three leaders in Wisconsin’s startup community will provide their views on “What government can do to help entrepreneurs.’’ Wisconsin recently approved a state venture capital fund infused with $25 million in state money.

The leaders are:

— Greg Meier, who teaches entrepreneurship at UW-Milwaukee, is co-founder of revolutionlabs.com, 94labs.com, vetransfer.org, Alithias.com, Victory Spark, the Global Entrepreneurship Collective, and Offermation.com;

— Troy Vosseller is a co-founder of gener8tor, a customer-driven accelerator located in Milwaukee and Madison that invests its community, capital, expertise, mentorship and network in capable, early-stage entrepreneurs with innovative business models. gener8tor works with the startups in its portfolio to create successful, scalable companies. Troy is also the founder of Sconnie Nation (http://www.sconnie.com). Sconnie Nation is an apparel brand focused on celebrating the Wisconsin lifestyle. Most recently he expanded the “Sconnie” brand into beer with the launch of Sconnie Beer.

— And Michelle D’Attilio, president of Sosh, a Milwaukee firm focusing on social media strategy, management, and promotions.

Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. The event goes from noon to 1 p.m. with lunch and refreshments served. NGA participants and subscribers to WisPolitics.com and WisBusiness.com may attend for free, but an RSVP is required.
