MADISON, WI — On April 5, 2025 at noon, people from all over Wisconsin will gather at the Wisconsin State Capitol as part of a peaceful, citizen-led event to work towards a nation that protects human rights, democracy, and equality – sending a message that they won’t sit by as basic rights and resources are stripped from them and their most vulnerable neighbors, family and friends.
Organizers emphasize community-building and have invited community organizations to provide resources and information as part of the event. Thousands of people are expected to attend, and the number grows as momentum builds.
Madison’s is one of more than 1,000 events taking place across Wisconsin, the nation and internationally on April 5. Holding many large events on one day will bring attention to the broad impacts that decisions in Washington are having on real people.
The Madison event is being organized primarily by local members of 50501 and Indivisible. Both organizations are non-partisan and believe actions by everyday people can lead to big change. Several other statewide grassroots organizations are also involved. At least 17 similar events are being held across the state of Wisconsin.
Nationally and locally, numerous organizations are partnering in the rallies.
The event is not intended to support political parties or candidates, but instead to support everyday people. Anyone and everyone who believes in advancing the democratic process and working towards a better country and world are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The march is a way to build strength in unity because we stand stronger when we stand together. We march because ‘Never Again’ is not just a phrase – it’s a commitment. The time has come for the people to help their neighbors and the most vulnerable. We march because a movement is beginning in America. As times change, hope will persevere.
There will be inspiring speakers who are directly affected by decisions made in Washington sharing their lived experiences. There will be opportunities to connect with community groups and advocacy organizations who are working hard to protect the most impacted, and a march filled with music of movement, voices of resilience, and hours of hope.
Everyone is encouraged to participate. Bring signs, instruments and your voice. Bring a friend, invite new people, and dress in a way that expresses who you are. First time attendees are encouraged to join our accepting space. Bring your American flags!
This is a peaceful, welcoming, family-friendly event. All organizations involved are committed to non-violence and won’t tolerate aggression of any nature.
