The Arc Wisconsin applauds Governor Tony Evers for his proposals in his state budget this week that can help children and adults with disabilities live safer, healthier, more independent lives.
Specifically, The Arc Wisconsin supports the sum-sufficient increase to special education and the increased supports for school-based mental health services for students who need extra support at school in order to be successful.
The Arc Wisconsin is also supportive of increased funding proposals for:
non-driver transportation services,
state and counties to investigate abuse and neglect of people with disabilities;
Investments in lead prevention and education;
Sum-sufficient funding of the Children’s Long Term Care program; and
ABLE to help people establish accounts, and a significant investment in lead prevention and
education.
The Arc Wisconsin continues to be concerned about proposed federal cuts to Medicaid, and urges the Governor and Legislature work with the Wisconsin Congressional delegation to prevent cuts to this vital program.
