Students for a Democratic Society at UWM: Defend immigrant students: Rally to protect international students at UWM

[Milwaukee, WI] – Students for a Democratic Society: United with Milwaukee (SDS UWM) condemns and stands against the Trump administration’s attacks on international and immigrant students. We, at SDS UWM, stand with the 10 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee international students and recent graduates who had their visas revoked and will mark our support with a rally and march, at Falasteen Lawn (corner of N Downer Ave and E Kenwood Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53211) at 5:00 pm on Monday, April 14.

These attacks on international and immigrant students are not only an attack on free speech but also a tactic to normalize the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on our campuses and by extension our communities. We condemn the lack of response and support provided by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Students for a Democratic Society demands that the Trump admin reinstate the wrongfully revoked visas of international students and stop deportations of all immigrants and students exercising their right for free speech. We also demand that the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) keep ICE off our campus, accept the students’ demands for a sanctuary campus and that UWM do everything in its power and more to protect all its students through these bogus deportations!

Students for a Democratic Society is a national, student and youth led, multi-issue, progressive organization that fights for change on campus. Our goal is to build a movement that mobilizes students to fight crimes against the people committed at home and abroad. Through our fightback, we will show students that we have the power to win policies for a better campus and to move society as a whole in defense of progressive social movements. SDS at UW-Milwaukee is currently fighting against Trump’s warmongering and sweeping attacks on equitable education, freedom of speech, and immigrant rights.
