Madison, WI – The Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (PIA) – a trade association representing thousands of independent agents from across the state – is pleased to announce the recipients of their 2024 Legislative Excellence Award: Senator Rob Stafsholt (R – New Richmond) and Representative Alex Dallman (R – Green Lake).
The Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin’s Legislative Excellence Award is given annually to a member of each legislative house who demonstrates support for PIA priority issues and leads efforts to keep Wisconsin a flourishing place for independent agents to do business.
Assembly Recipient: Representative Alex Dallman
Representative Dallman was instrumental in his role as author of 2023 Wisconsin Act 60 in ensuring its passage and signing into law in the 2023-2024 legislative session. This PIA-backed legislation requires high school students to obtain one-half credit of education on financial literacy including money management, credit and debt, risk management, insurance, and more. PIA has been a strong advocate for this as it is imperative that Wisconsin’s young adults know the importance of maintaining strong credit and insurance to safeguard themselves and those around them. PIA thanks Representative Dallman for his continued efforts from session to session to get this important legislation passed for Wisconsin’s future students.
Senate Recipient: Senator Rob Stafsholt
In the 2023-2024 session, Senator Stafsholt co-authored 2023 Wisconsin Act 60, the personal financial literacy bill. In addition, Sen. Stafsholt authored 2023 Senate Bill 386, that would have clarified the insurance handling of peer-to-peer car sharing transactions. Though this legislation was vetoed, PIA continues to urge for its passage and thanks Senator Stafsholt for his continued efforts to create certainty for all parties during car sharing transactions.
