MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Preservation Alliance (MPA) is thrilled to announce a new design competition to help raise funds for the restoration of the historic Catherine Foley Tavern located at 266 E Erie Street in the Historic Third Ward.
The building, which was previously under threat of demolition, was gifted to MPA by General Capital Group and Joseph Property Development in January of 2024. MPA plans to fully restore the building according to historic preservation guidelines and make it the future home of their office, with some leasable space on the first floor. Cost of total restoration is estimated at approximately $3M.
Registration for the design competition is $500 per entry and is open to all on a first come, first serve basis. Registration will open March 10th with limited availability.
Models will be judged at the concluding Brick by Brick fundraiser event on May 15th and categories awarded will include Most Unique, Most Sustainable, Most Detailed, and People’s Choice Fundraiser that will be a culmination of paid votes the day of the event. Following the event, an additional award will be selected for a week-long voting period for Social Media Choice. All winners will be featured on the future Donor Wall upon the historic restoration’s completion.
