MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Preservation Alliance (MPA) is thrilled to announce a kickoff fundraising event for the restoration of the historic Catherine Foley Tavern/266 E Erie Street.
The event will take place at the Woman’s Club of Wisconsin at 813 E Kilbourn Ave on May 15th, beginning at 5pm with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, design competition voting, raffle items and a wine pull. Program, awards and a seated dessert will begin at 7pm. The design competition will be judged in partnership with Milwaukee Icons John Gurda, Carrie Matteson and Derek Mosley. Cost is $100 per person, reserved tables of eight (8) are available for $800. All proceeds from the evening will be donated directly to the restoration funds for the historic Catherine Foley Tavern.
The Tavern, which was previously under threat of demolition, was gifted to MPA by General Capital Group and Joseph Property Development in January of 2024. MPA plans to fully restore the building according to historic preservation guidelines and make it the future home of their office, with some leasable space on the first floor. Cost of total restoration is estimated at approximately $3M.
