Event Fosters Empathy for the Reentry Process

JustDane, in partnership with Madison College, is hosting a Community Reentry Simulation on April 24th to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the challenges individuals face when reentering society after incarceration.
This interactive event offers a hands-on experience that simulates the first month of reentry, illustrating the barriers to housing, employment, transportation, and social services that returning citizens encounter. By stepping into the shoes of someone navigating reentry, participants gain insight into the systemic hurdles and the critical need for community support.
“We’re excited to partner with Madison College and Dr. Jimmy Cheffen to bring awareness to the challenges of reentry,” said Dani Crutcher, Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager at JustDane. “This simulation fosters empathy and action toward a more supportive reentry process.”
The event will take place at Madison College Goodman South Campus, 2429 Perry St, Madison, WI, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required due to limited space.
