On April 26th, the Driftless Area Voters for Wisconsin (DAVFW) will host author and journalist Ruth Conniff who will speak about her book Milked: How an American Crisis Brought Together Midwestern Dairy Farmers and Mexican Workers which won the 2022 Studs and Ida Terkel award.
Conniff recently traveled to Mexico and will talk about what she learned on her trip. She will sell and sign copies of her book.
There will be time for questions and answers from the audience.
The event will be held at the Nelson Community Center and begin at 1pm. Doors will open at 12:30pm.
Ruth Conniff is editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Examiner, a nonpartisan, nonprofit news site covering politics and policy. Formerly, Ms. Conniff was the editor of The Progressive, a national magazine launched in Wisconsin. She has appeared on such television and radio outlets as MSNBC, Good Morning America, Wisconsin Public Radio, Democracy Now!, CNN, and Fox News.
DAVFW is a recently formed group composed of members from Buffalo, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix, and Trempealeau Counties. They organized to sponsor speakers for monthly presentations on topics of local interest within their communities.
