Wisconsin Women in Government: Seeks applicants for Board of Directors

MADISON – Wisconsin Women in Government (WWIG), a statewide, bipartisan, non-profit organization of women in government service, today announced it is seeking professional women to join the WWIG Board of Directors for a two-year term beginning August 2023.

“We are seeking professional women interested in working collaboratively to carry out WWIG’s mission of advancing the careers of women who work in or with government to apply for the board,” said WWIG President Chelsea Shanks. “Service on the board is incredibly rewarding, and it provides a chance to broaden your skill set and give back to others who are committed to having careers in public service.”

The WWIG Board of Directors is a working board, fully consisting of volunteers, that seeks women from diverse backgrounds to contribute their time and expertise to support the organization’s work in the areas of communications, fundraising, and event planning.

Women who work in government at any level, those who work with government through a role in the private sector, and women with previous experience working with nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply.

The board of directors typically meets at least six times per year, and board members are expected to participate in WWIG’s committees and events.

To apply, candidates should send a resume and a cover letter describing why they would like to join the WWIG Board of Directors to wwigquestions@gmail.com by June 3, 2024. Applicants should describe their relevant experience and any specific skills they will contribute to the board. Experience in fundraising, communications, and event planning is especially appreciated.
