MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) is pleased to announce that Samantha Linden was recognized with the Rising Star Award by the Wisconsin Women in Government at the organization’s Annual Scholarship & Recognition Gala on April 10. The award honors a woman who has been in her profession for 10 years or less and made a marked contribution in her profession.
In her position as WHEDA’s Legislative Liaison, Linden played an integral role in legislative discussions that led to the creation of bipartisan legislation to form four new loan programs for affordable housing development. Through her legislative analysis, creation of informational and persuasive materials, and testimonial presentations, WHEDA received the historic investment of $525 million in the 2023-25 biennial budget for these new programs.
“The opportunity to help the people of Wisconsin is what fuels me,” Linden said. “I’m honored to receive the Rising Star award and I am proud of the impact my work has on individuals. Every new housing unit we help create will be someone’s home.”
Linden first became interested in public service in high school. While attending college, she interned with and was subsequently hired by the office of Senator Janet Bewley as a Legislative Aide and eventually as the Constituent Relations Manager when Bewley was elected Minority Leader by the Senate Democratic Caucus. Since joining WHEDA in 2022, Linden has demonstrated remarkable leadership and dedication in various roles.
Additionally, Linden has been a passionate advocate for mentorship and talent development, empowering aspiring individuals to thrive in their careers and make a positive impact in their communities.
