Waukesha County Business Alliance: Opposes Waukesha County’s proposed sales tax increase

Waukesha, Wis. (October 9, 2024) – The Waukesha County Business Alliance continues to oppose a 0.5% sales tax increase in Waukesha County in 2025. As a leading voice for the business community, the Alliance has over 1,200 member companies representing more than 75,000 employees across Waukesha County and the region. We urge the County Board to slow down and evaluate the increased tax proposal.

“The Waukesha County Business Alliance opposes the proposed sales tax increase for Waukesha County in 2025. With costs already soaring, now is not the time to put additional burden on Waukesha County families and job creators,” said Alliance President & CEO Amanda Payne. “This proposal is too much, too fast, and we call on the County to re-evaluate the tax plan. We are opposed to overtaxing Waukesha County residents with a projected $50-$60 million increase.”

The Waukesha County Business Alliance is calling on the County to work collaboratively with state legislators, business leaders, and community members to find ways to address budgetary challenges while protecting the business environment that has made Waukesha County a wonderful place to raise families and a leader in economic growth.
