MILWAUKEE (August 13, 2024) – On Thursday, September 12th, Vivent Health will host the 2nd annual Dining Out for Life event to raise funds of support for Vivent Health’s food pantry. For one day only, some of Milwaukee’s best restaurants and bars and true allies of the LGBTQ+ community will donate a generous portion of their proceeds to make a difference right here in our community by helping provide healthy food for Milwaukeeans living with HIV.
Vivent Health is one the nation’s leading HIV care providers, helping nearly 4,000 Milwaukeeans living with HIV and thousands more who are affected by this disease. Support for the food pantry reflects Vivent Health’s holistic approach to serving the whole person, offering not only the latest HIV treatments but also food, housing, and case management. Considering all these resources as HIV care makes all the difference—Wisconsin patients reach viral suppression rates of 95%, compared to the national average of 62%.
“As a community-based organization, Vivent Health must continue delivering the services and programs that meet the most critical health needs of our community and remain nimble so we can adapt as those needs change,” said Margaret Lidstone, Vivent Health‘s Chief Philanthropy and Community Engagement Officer. “Dining Out for Life is instrumental in ensuring that this happens. All funds raised during this one-day event support the health and well-being of the Milwaukee community who need care.” Last year, Vivent Health provided 11,250 pantry orders to nearly 1,100 clients and their families—a 37% increase from 2022. This year, those needs continue to grow.
Some of the LGBTQ+ allied restaurants and bars participating in Dining Out for Life include 2024 James Beard finalist Amilinda, Bavette, La Cage Club, Cubanitas, and Flour Girl & Flame. Core sponsors include Gilead Sciences, Green Bay Packers Give Back, and Tri North Builders, Inc.
