Rep. Jerry O’Connor: Congratulates FDL icon Gilles Frozen Custard on 75 years of exemplary service

FOND DU LAC – Representative Jerry O’Connor (R-Fond du Lac) released the following statement congratulating FDL icon Gilles Frozen Custard on 75 years of exemplary service:

“Gilles Frozen Custard has been a local, family-owned and operated treasured fixture of Fond du Lac since 1949. Tomorrow Gilles will be celebrating 75 years of outstanding and iconic service to the people of FDL.

Tom Gilles first began serving frozen custard and Gillieburgers to the people of FDL in June 1949 with an uncompromising dedication to quality and customer service.Jim and Gwen Gilles took over the business in 1992 and continued running the drive-in with the same spirit that made it a success and local hotspot throughout the ‘50s. Today Scott Gilgenbach and Chris Meyer carry on the same qualities and vision that made Gilles a famous, local, fun landmark.

Gilles’s has remained a FDL icon and stalwart supporter of our community, including promoting the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac, FDL County Fairest of the Fair Program, Wisconsin Alumni Association, and Fond de Vettes Corvette Club.

Congrats to the Gilles staff and thank you to all those who have supported Gilles for the last 75 years!

Consider joining me in celebrating this historic accomplishment at Gilles’ 75th Anniversary Party tomorrow, August 6! The party will be from 4-8pm at Gilles’ at 819 S. Main St in FDL and will include special food deals, giveaways, and music.
