On Tuesday, May 14, Northwestern Mutual hosted its Girls in Tech event, an annual gathering designed to inspire and empower young women and girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
“As part of our dedication to nurturing the next generation of talent and fostering diversity in STEM, Northwestern Mutual hosted nearly 100 young girls at our Girls in Tech event,” Stacy Zaja, assistant director – STEM outreach, Northwestern Mutual. “By providing interactive activities, mentorship and exposure to real-world STEM careers, we aim to inspire confidence and ignite interest in these fields, including within financial services. This event is just one facet of our broader commitment to bridging educational gaps and cultivating the local tech community, ultimately creating a supportive environment where young girls can thrive and envision themselves succeeding in STEM.”
According to the National Girls Collaborative Program, women continue to be underrepresented in the STEM workforce, with only 35% constituting the field. Northwestern Mutual is committed to fostering the next generation of STEM leaders and addressing the gender gap in these industries.
