Ten Milwaukee Area Technical College students from the Baking and Pastry Arts associate degree program showcase their decorating skills and holiday spirit at the annual MATC Parade of Gingerbread Houses currently on display at the Milwaukee Public Market (MPM), 400 North Water Street, Milwaukee.
The public is invited to view, vote on and even purchase the 10 gingerbread houses. The 10 student contestants’ designs include a windmill, a circular, tiered house, Barbie-themed, winter on the beach and more.
In addition to displaying their talents, the students are vying for bragging rights from Wisconsin Baking Association judges to earn first, second and third place, and honorable mention. The People’s Choice Award winner will be chosen by public voting, so the public is encouraged to visit the Milwaukee Public Market to vote on the intricate and imaginative creations.
The gingerbread houses are available for purchase via auction. Proceeds from each house will go toward scholarships for students in baking programs through the MATC Foundation Inc., the college’s philanthropic partner in supporting student success.
