Lake Express: Daily service for lake express ferry begins friday, may 3

MILWAUKEE – The Lake Express Ferry will launch its 2024 travel season providing high-speed ferry service between Wisconsin and Michigan this Friday, May 3 with four daily crossings, the first of which leaves the Milwaukee terminal at 6 a.m.

The four-engine powered ship provides modern fast ferry service on Lake Michigan, drawing 100,000 travelers from across the U.S. and the world to its port communities each season. An average of 50 different foreign countries are represented annually among Lake Express’ travelers, who provide economic impact to the local and broader regional markets around Milwaukee and Muskegon, MI. The ferry is a favorite among travelers seeking to avoid Chicago traffic congestion by way of the time-saving Lake Michigan cross-lake shortcut.

With the addition of evening sailings on June 28, Lake Express will provide six daily crossings of Lake Michigan on select summer schedule dates.

“Lake Express provides an easy and relaxing alternative to the typical drive through Chicago,” said Aaron Schultz, senior vice president at Lake Express. “Beyond the hours saved versus the typical drive, travelers tell us that the unique opportunity to experience sailing on a Great Lake and to visit our vibrant port communities are highlights of their trips using the Lake Express.”

Passengers on the Lake Express can enjoy their experience in a variety of ways, from taking in unique Lake Michigan views from outside passenger and sun decks to relaxing inside the passenger cabin featuring first class-style seating in both row and table configurations. Wide aisles and a spacious cabin provide freedom to move around while underway.
