Artisan chocolate commemorating 10-year anniversary takes top honors
ELM GROVE, WI (Aug. 13, 2024) — Fazio’s Sweet Moments Sweet Life, a family-run chocolate boutique, was awarded a first place and Best of Show award at the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair for Decade of Decadence, a confection created to commemorate their 10-year business anniversary last fall. The winner is a dark chocolate praline crunch layered with berry marmalade and cheesecake, all in a dark chocolate shell.
“We have been thrilled to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a family business, and a Wisconsin State Fair prize is the icing on the cake — or in our case, the chocolate,” said co-owner Cindy Karrels. As a chocolatier, Cindy is the creator behind Fazio’s hand-made confections.
Fazio’s competed in the Grand Champion Eats & Treats competition, the Fair’s professional food competition for the state’s small-business food producers. Decade of Decadence won first place in the Sweet Treats category and was also named Best of Show. Entries are judged on flavor, creativity/uniqueness, product appeal and consistency, and packaging.
Decade of Decadence was introduced to the Fazio’s holiday collection last fall and is currently available for sale at its Elm Grove store year-round. It will continue to be part of the Fazio’s holiday collection, as well.
Fazio’s Sweet Moments Sweet Life is operated by Cindy and her husband, Mark. “Entering the Wisconsin State Fair competition has been on my bucket list for years,” Cindy said. “Winning is a dream come true.”
