Dept. of Safety and Professional Services: Deputy Secretary Donna Moreland earns Service Award

Madison, Wis. — The Rotary Club of Madison recognized Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) Deputy Secretary Donna Moreland with its 2024 Avenues of Service Award for Vocational Service last week.

The award reflects the entirety of Moreland’s contributions to the Club since becoming a member in 2008.

“Service and living a life of service are important to me,” Moreland said. “Yes, service to the State of Wisconsin through my work at DSPS, but also to my community and the people who live there.”

Moreland has been active and served in leadership roles for several Rotary committees, including Community Projects, Youth Awards, Scholarship, and the Ethics Symposium committees. In 2017-2018, she served as the Club’s President.

She has mentored several Rotary Scholars, and most recently she served on the team that conducted two full days of interviews with candidates for the Club’s 2024 class of Rotary scholars.

“I’m not at all surprised the Rotary Club of Madison chose to honor Donna,” said DSPS Secretary Dan Hereth. “I’m seen up close her commitment and tireless efforts to improve conditions for the citizens of Wisconsin.”

Outside of her work with the Rotary Club of Madison, Moreland has served on various City of Madison committees and commissions, and she has taken on leadership roles for several non-profit boards since moving to Madison in 2002.

For the Vocational Service Award recognition, she received a special certificate and a pin. In addition, the Rotary Club of Madison made a $200 gift in her name to The International Rotary Foundation.
