Bayfield, Wis. (April 18, 2024) – Applications are open for the 61st annual Bayfield Festival of Arts, which will take place September 7-8, 2024. The Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau (BCVB) manages this event and staff significantly reduced the artist booth fees to help make this festival more accessible for all artists.
“Whether you are a well-seasoned artist who has made festivals like this a career or a new artist who has never done a show before, this festival is the perfect opportunity to share your art while interacting with visitors and the community,” said Carol Fahrenkrog, executive director of the BCVB. We want this festival to be affordable for those who are beginning their journey as an artist.”
Artists seeking a booth at the Festival of Arts can purchase a single booth for $150 for the weekend or a double booth for $200. Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau members who have been a member of the chamber for at least one full year will receive an additional discount.
Bayfield Festival of Arts is a juried arts show held in Memorial Park on the scenic shores of Lake Superior in downtown Bayfield. Visitors will find a unique selection of pottery, painting, jewelry, sculpture, glass-works, wood carvings, photography and more.
In celebration of Lake Superior, the Festival of Arts highlights artists who use materials sourced from the Big Lake. Those materials could include sea glass, sandstone, and basalt, or artists who create images depicting the scenery of the lake. Those artists are given a badge that says “Lake Superior Inspired” to display at their booth during the festival.
Many vendors and attendees may recall the festival being held in July before 2020. The decision to move the festival to September was to entice visitors to experience Bayfield during the serene, mild days of early autumn when Mother Nature paints the landscape with vibrant colors. The two-day festival draws roughly 3,000 visitors to Bayfield over the weekend.
Festival of Arts kicks off the third annual Art Escape, happening September 7-15, 2024.
