LA CROSSE – On Wednesday, May 17th, the Southwest office of the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) will be presented with the 2023 Women’s Business Center of the Year Award by the Wisconsin division of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). An awards ceremony will take place at the WWBIC office at 3500 Highway 16 in La Crosse at 10:00 am.
“We’re very privileged to be receiving this statewide award in just our second year of existence,” says Mara Keyes, WWBIC Southwest Regional Director. “It really validates the hard work we’re doing here in La Crosse and in surrounding areas to help small businesses start, grow and thrive in southwest Wisconsin, and the SBA’s support is integral to our efforts and success.”
Keyes will be accepting the award, and presenters at the ceremony will include Eric Ness, SBA Wisconsin District Director; John Miller, SBA Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of Capital Access; and City of La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds. The ceremony is open to the media and the public in general.
WWBIC is a leading statewide economic development corporation which assists micro enterprise & small businesses through financial wellness and entrepreneurship training, lending and technical assistance. They are AERIS rated and are one of Wisconsin’s first Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI). The Southwest office of WWBIC in La Crosse opened in June 2021, serving Buffalo, Crawford, Grant, La Crosse, Lafayette, Jackson, Juneau, Monroe, Richland, Trempealeau, and Vernon Counties.
