The 2023 Wisconsin Capitol Ornament collectible ornament commemorates the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s (WCO) 40th Anniversary of Concerts on the Square of the State Capitol.
This unique ornament features the distinct State Capitol at sunset depicting the Chamber Orchestra performing one of its iconic Capitol Square concert series.
On Friday, December 1st, the Capitol is celebrating the lighting ceremony for the State Capitol Tree. Holiday visitors coming to view the tree adorning the rotunda will be able to purchase the 2023 Capitol Ornament at the tour desk.
The ornament will also be on sale at the WCO’s Holiday Concert, Handel’s Messiah. A family tradition featuring the Festival Choir of Madison. The ticketed concert will take place on December 8 and 9thh at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. Concert tickets and the ornament are available at https://wcoconcerts.org/.
The Capitol Ornament program, which began in 2004, is supported by the Wisconsin Historical Foundation. A volunteer committee coordinates the design and development of the ornament each year.
Proceeds from the sale of the ornament go to the Capitol Restoration Fund. Projects utilizing those funds have included the visitor’s viewing deck which overlooks the rotunda.
