Madison, Wisconsin (September 21, 2023) – The WGA celebrates Family Meals Month and commends the Wisconsin Legislature and authors Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara and Representative Pat Snyder for proclaiming September as Family Meals Month through Senate Joint Resolution 67/Assembly Joint Resolution 70.
Family Meals Month is a national effort to encourage families to pledge to share more meals at home each week in September and throughout the year. For the past several years, grocers across Wisconsin have been promoting Family Meals Month each September.
“Sharing a meal around the kitchen table has numerous health and societal benefits for everyone who eats together. In fact, children and teens who eat more meals with their family are more successful in school. Something we can all support,” according to Senator Cabral-Guevara.
“Meals eaten together improve the family dynamic and increase a child’s self-esteem. Further, meals prepared and eaten at home are generally more economical,” stated Representative Pat Snyder.
“WGA and its members are proud to have the support of the Wisconsin Legislature and to advance efforts that strengthen families and communities throughout the state,” said Mike Semmann WGA Vice President of Government Affairs.
Many of these efforts have received national awards and recognition through the FMI Gold Plate Awards which honors the contributions companies make to help raise consumer awareness of the many benefits of family meals.
