WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (April 13, 2023) – The Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau (WDVCB) welcomes Jill C. Diehl as its new president/CEO, effective April 9.
Diehl is no stranger to Wisconsin Dells and the Wisconsin tourism world. She held a seat on the WDVCB’s board of directors for 25 years, acting as chair for the past 22 years. She also served on the Wisconsin Dells Festivals, Inc. board for 22 years, acting as chair for the past 12 years, and has served on the marketing, executive, finance and tourism economic development committees. Diehl was also a member of the Wisconsin Governor’s Council on Tourism from 2000-2002.
Before her role as president/CEO of the WDVCB, Diehl was the executive vice president and general manager of Tommy Bartlett, Inc, comprised of the now-retired Tommy Bartlett Show and Tommy Bartlett Exploratory. She started working for Tommy Bartlett when she was ten and did everything from performing in the Tahitian dancers’ poi ball act to working in the snack bar, selling tickets and operating the Dancing Waters. Eventually, Diehl moved up to manage the sales staff, which she did in the summers while attending college.
Post-college, Diehl was the general manager of Copa Cabana Resort Hotel & Suites for 18 years. Under her leadership, the resort developed into a premier full-service facility with deluxe accommodations, meeting and convention facilities and indoor and outdoor waterparks before it was sold in 2011. During her tenure at Copa Cabana, she continued to shoulder leadership responsibilities with Tommy Bartlett, Inc. After 2011, Diehl moved into a full-time management role at Tommy Bartlett, Inc, where she served in her most recent leadership role for 13 years.
“The Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau has one of the most unique and successful destination marketing organization models. I am looking forward to applying my decades of hospitality experience, paired with the talents of the WDVCB professional staff, to build on the successes of the Wisconsin Dells area and its claim as a, if not the, top regional travel destination,” WDVCB president/CEO Jill C. Diehl said.
Diehl holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Michigan State University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
