WAUSAU, Wis. [September 28, 2023] – Tundraland Home Improvements, a LEAF Home owned company specializing in baths and walk-in showers, is excited to announce its third student artist as a part of the all-new Stevens Point Student Art Series. The live window painting will take place on Saturday, October 7 at 11 a.m. at the Tundraland Wausau showroom, located at 305 N. 3rd Street (map) and coincides with the Wausau Harvest Fest happening on the same day.
“Tundraland is thrilled to help showcase the talent of the young people in our community, and at the same time, excited to be giving back to so many deserving nonprofits,” explained Amy Zimmerman, chief marketing officer at Tundraland Home Improvements. “We really want our community to feel welcome at this event so we are partnering with Cafe Domestique, who will be handing out coffee and hot beverages while families enjoy Harvest Fest and watch this rising local artist create her masterpiece.”
The October featured artist is 18-year-old, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) graphic design student, Riley Olbrantz.
“I have loved art since I was little and I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil,” explained Olbrantz. “When people see my work, I want them to feel the joy that I had while I created it. As I experimented with new mediums and styles throughout the years, my passion for art has only grown stronger. I use a variety of 2-D supplies like alcohol markers, colored pencils and paints, as well as 3-D supplies such as clay or origami. Even when not taking an art class, I use Pinterest and YouTube to learn new techniques. No matter what form of art I am doing, I love that it gives me a way to express myself creatively in new and exciting ways.”
Olbrantz is the third artist to be featured in the Tundraland Student Art Series. Each month, from now until the end of 2023, a new student from UWSP is chosen to decorate the window at Tundraland’s showroom in Wausau. Then, for every person who posts a picture in front of the window to social media and tags Tundraland Home Improvements, the company will donate $10 per post, up to $500, to a charity of the UWSP art student’s choosing.
“I chose to donate to New Life Pet Adoption Center, Inc. because it’s a local volunteer-based no-kill animal shelter,” said Olbrantz. “I know a few people who have adopted from there and I have volunteered there a few times as well. I’m a big animal lover and the people there truly care for those animals.”
New Life Pet Adoption Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit no-kill animal shelter formed in 2000 for the purpose of placing more adoptable companion animals into loving and caring homes. New Life Pet Adoption Center focuses on educating the public and municipal governments about the animal shelter overpopulation problem with an emphasis on the importance of spaying and neutering as well as providing a place of safety and the humane treatment of animals while awaiting adoption.
Olbrantz will be painting the window live during the Wausau Harvest Fest on October 7 at 11 a.m. Harvest Fest is organized by Wausau Events and is the premier fall event held annually in the heart of downtown Wausau. Food donations are encouraged to benefit local food banks in the area. Additionally, the festival features: a pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving contest, potato sack races, costume contest and business trick-or-treating, petting zoo, animals and many other family-friendly activities throughout the day.
Last month’s Student Artist was Anna Bartz. Thanks to the numerous photos taken by community members with her artwork, Tundraland was able to donate $500 to the Maui Food Bank.
