Tower Heritage Center: Washington County Historical Society announces ribbon-cutting event celebrating ownership of Courthouse Square

The Tower Heritage Center, home of the Washington County Historical Society, is proud to announce their Happy Hour at the Tower Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate its new phase of operations and complete ownership of The Courthouse Square. The event will take place on Saturday, April 8, from 3:30 – 5:30 PM, at the 1889 Courthouse Museum, located at 320 S. 5th Ave., West Bend, WI 53095.

For over 60 years, The Courthouse Square has been the home of the Washington County Historical Society. However, at the end of 2022, Washington County transferred ownership of the property to the historical society. This marks an exciting new chapter for the society, which has been wholly independent of county funding since the end of 2021. This event will be a chance to thank the society’s supporters for helping them get this far and grant donors an opportunity to help take the organization into the future.

The ribbon-cutting event will feature a social time with a cash bar and complimentary appetizers, followed by a short ribbon-cutting ceremony. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take self-guided tours of the 1889 Courthouse Museum, showcasing Washington County’s history and its people.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this momentous occasion with our community,” said Joe Zaremba, President of the Washington County Historical Society. “This is an exciting new chapter for our organization, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue preserving and sharing the rich history of Washington County.”

The ribbon-cutting event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. RSVP is encouraged but not required. For more information and to RSVP for the event, please visit thetowerheritagecenter.org/events.
