MADISON, Wis. – This week, Quartz was recognized with a Business Impact Award in the Large Business Category in the 365 Leadership Community Choice Awards, presented by Madison 365. In its fifth consecutive year, the Community Choice Awards aim to honor the leaders and change-makers among Madison’s communities of color. Award recipients are nominated and voted on by community members.
Awards were presented in a special ceremony this week during the 365 Leadership Summit held at the Madison Concourse Hotel. During the program, Quartz was recognized for its efforts to achieve National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Equity Accreditation, which focuses on building an internal culture that supports the organization’s external health equity work, collecting data that help the organization create and offer language services and provider networks mindful of individuals’ cultural and linguistic needs, and identifying opportunities to reduce health inequities and improve care. Quartz was also recognized for its Belonging 2.0 initiative, an internal training program for Quartz employees that aims to foster inclusivity by intentionally connecting employees with one another, learning about social determinants of health, and taking action to volunteer in the community. Elizabeth Priller, Quartz Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging accepted the Business Impact Award on behalf of Quartz.
“As we accept this award, we recognize that it is not just a celebration of past accomplishments, but a call to action for the future. We pledge to continue our work, to strive for even greater levels of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and health equity, and to expand our reach to impact even more lives,” said Priller. “Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive community, where everyone has the opportunity to create a life well lived.”
Quartz leaders and employees also participated in the 365 Leadership Summit, joining many of Wisconsin’s influential leaders of color to build community, address issues, and develop strategies for Wisconsin’s future. Quartz was proud to be a sponsor of the event, which featured panel discussion on crucial topics including health education and literacy and addressing disparities in health and other public services.
“Quartz is grateful to Madison 365 for holding this valuable event to bring together leaders from our communities to collaboratively address some of the most significant challenges we face,” Priller added. “We were honored to participate in this year’s 365 Leadership Summit and to be recognized among an impressive list of individuals and businesses who are making a difference in the Madison area. We want to extend our congratulations to all the other local businesses and individuals recognized in this year’s Community Choice Awards.”
