MILWAUKEE – Oct. 31, 2023 – Molson Coors today announced a $150,000 donation to Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) to fund completion grants, providing aid to diverse and low-income students working toward college degrees. This contribution is part of Molson Coors’ larger $1.5 million donation made through its Celebrate Tomorrow initiative. The contribution will support 39 nonprofit organizations in the company’s brewery hometowns and corporate-office locations.
“At Molson Coors, supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in our hometowns is incredibly important,” said Alison Hanrahan, manager of community affairs, Molson Coors. “As part of this year’s Celebrate Tomorrow contribution, we are honored to partner with two strong educational partners in MATC and MSOE to support students in earning their degrees and continue to drive access to higher education and future economic opportunity.”
Various measures will be implemented through the completion grants contribution including emergency grants, scholarships, mentorship programs, opportunities for hands-on learning, skill development and workforce application. In addition to Milwaukee, completion grants will be distributed to technical institutes and educational programming in Molson Coors’ hometowns in Chicago and Colorado via partnerships with One Million Degrees, Community College of Aurora Foundation, Denver Scholarship Foundation and Emily Griffith Foundation.
“We serve the largest diverse student body of any college or university in Wisconsin. Launched in August 2022, the MATC Checota Scholarship provides full-ride financial support and wraparound student navigation; it has already served more than 720 students – 83% of whom are students of color and nearly 200 of whom have already graduated with a technical diploma or certificate,” said Laura Bray, executive director, MATC Foundation Inc. “We are extremely grateful for Molson Coors’ partnership in building an equitable future for us all.”
In 2022, support through completion grants aided nearly 500 low-income and diverse students from funds allocated to 22 different institutions across Chicago, Denver and Milwaukee, enabling students to complete their certification or degree. In addition to this years’ Milwaukee partners, Molson Coors is continuing its support to Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) through a two-year investment of $100,000.
Since this program’s inception, more than $6 million has been donated to support nearly 60 organizations across the U.S. and Canada. Beyond Celebrate Tomorrow, Molson Coors’ social impact initiatives partner with organizations that aim to improve livelihoods, build resilient communities and empower the next generation of leaders.
