Marian University: George Koonce a natural fit with Horicon Bank Board

FOND DU LAC, WI – July 28, 2023 – You could say the connection between Dr. George Koonce and Horicon Bank was a “natural” fit.  The Senior Vice President of University Relations at Marian University of Wisconsin and former Green Bay Packers linebacker was appointed to the Horicon Bank Board of Directors this week.

“As a long-time customer of Horicon Bank, I appreciate how they link their success to the success of the businesses and families in their community,” said Koonce.  “I have always felt a strong commitment to community engagement and look forward to contributing to Horicon’s continued growth and success.”

Koonce, a tireless networker who develops strategic partnerships for Marian University, serves on the Board of the Green Bay Packers, but also, because of a love of having people experience nature, serves on the board of The Nature Conservancy.  Horicon Bank, with the tagline, “The Natural Choice,” likens its success with its communities to the way animals and plants thrive together in the Horicon Marsh.  Koonce felt an immediate connection.

Horicon Bank CEO and Chairman Frederick F. Schwertfeger expressed both appreciation for the depth and diversity of Koonce’s professional life in Wisconsin and confidence in his commitment to the future success of Horicon Bank.

Marian University was founded in 1936 by the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes, a group of pioneering sisters in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The university offers undergraduate, masters and adult learning degrees at its main campus and online.
