(APPLETON-FOX CITIES, WI) — The League of Women Voters of Appleton-Fox Cities seeks nominees for the Making Democracy Work Award, its signature recognition honoring the civic work of individuals or organizations in their community as demonstrated through their professional work or volunteerism.
According to League President Linda Bjella, the award celebrates those who have envisioned a way to improve the Fox Cities community, and who have mobilized others to work with them to effect change benefiting the broader community.
Eligible nominees include adults, youth under age 21, or organizations. Nominations may be submitted now through November 1. Nomination forms may be found on the League’s website, https://lwvappletonfoxcities.org Completed forms should be emailed to Jan Quinlan, vice president of Action for the League, at action@lwvappletonfoxcities.org or mailed to LWV of Appleton-Fox Cities, ATTN: MDW Award, P.O. The award presentation will take place at the League’s Holiday Brunch on December 16.
In December 2022, the League presented three Making Democracy Work Awards, including a special Lifetime Achievement Award. The League honored former Appleton City Council and Outagamie County Board member Helen Nagler posthumously with a Lifetime Achievement Award; Ronna Swift with the MDW Award, and Xavier High School student Maggie McGinnis with the Youth MDW Award.
